2030: Great save from Costel Pantilimon to deny Arsenal! Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain exchanges passes with Marouane Chamakh before cracking a lovely effort from 25 yards which is heading into the top corner until the big Romanian tips it over. Top save. Twitter Femi Williams on Twitter: "Chamakh wins everything in the air, something arsenal have lacked, you'd never usually expect them to score from a setpiece." #BBCFootball Twitter Steve Blyth on Twitter: "Arsenal look really lively tonight, however, RVP would have made the difference with that chance. Why rest somebody so in-form?" #BBCFootball 2027: Chelsea youngster Josh McEachran took a whack to the ankle earlier and he has had to come off as Brazilian Ramires takes his place in midfield. Chelsea could do with him - or anyone to be honest - getting hold of this game. It's rather passing them by. BBC Radio 5 live David Pleat on Radio 5 live: "Arsenal are condensing the play and making it difficult for City. There's very little room so when City try to get their passing play going they can't find space." 2024: Manchester City are starting to take charge at Arsenal but have not really created much as of yet. Edin Dzeko was almost clear but he was well challenged by Sebastien Squillaci. 2022: Comedy gold from David Dunn who is having some half here. He embarks on a mazy dribble across the face of the penalty area but at the critical moment absolutely shanks his left-footed shot about 35 yards wide. We've all been there David... 2020: That was almost stunning! David Dunn produces a fantastic volley from 30 yards - a full on, both feet off the floor job - but Cardiff keeper Tom Heaton spoils his moment with a good save to his left. 2017: The Arsenal fans are really quite insistent that Samir Nasri's move to Manchester City was somehow due to financial reasons. I have no idea what they are getting at. Chief football writer Phil McNulty at Stamford Bridge: "Phil Dowd gives a penalty at the third time of asking after Chelsea and Liverpool both have presentable appeals ignored - but an opportunity badly wasted by Andy Carroll. Liverpool have had the better of this so far. Andre Villas-Boas has already given Fernando Torres a lengthy touchline pep-talk." 2015: Arsenal come close to an opener when Park Chu-young gets on the end of Francis Coquelin's cross but City keeper Costel Pantilimon makes a great save to his left. FOOTBALL LEAGUE UPDATE: Early goal in the Championship at Riverside Stadium where West Ham are 1-0 up against Middlesbrough thanks to a Frederic Piquionne header. The Hammers are just behind leaders Southampton, who are under way at home to Hull City and currently goalless. Leeds meanwhile have scored during their 11-minute Gary Speed tribute through Robert Snodgrass. 2011: It should have been 2-0 to Cardiff as Kenny Miller cuts around Mark Bunn but twice sees efforts cleared off the line. That was fantastic last-ditch defending from Blackburn. First moment of danger at Emirates Stadium as well as England winger Adam Johnson lashes a 25-yard shot onto the roof of the net. 2010: Chelsea literally hand Liverpool an opportunity when Alex needlessly turns away a cross with his arm and referee Phil Dowd gives the spot kick. Andy Carroll steps up and smashes the ball down the middle but Ross Turnbull bats it away. 2009: Missed penalty for Liverpool (Andy Carroll) Goooooooaaaaaaaaal Cardiff goal: I told you it was all Blackburn. Disastrous stuff from Morten Gamst Pedersen as he loses possession in midfield and Aron Gunnarsson is in quickly to thread through a pass for Kenny Miller. The Scotland striker runs a trifle wide but is able to slot through the legs of Blackburn's Mark Bunn. 2006: GOALFLASH Cardiff 1-0 Blackburn (Kenny Miller) 2004: Blackburn go close as David Dunn - who is sporting a monster of a beard - fires over from the edge of the area after a corner causes havoc in the area. Whistle 2003: Those Leeds fans will be in full voice at the moment as they sing Gary Speed's name for a full 11 minutes. Impressive effort. We have kicked-off at Arsenal now and Samir Nasri is instantly booed. BBC Radio 5 live David Pleat on Radio 5 live on Samir Nasri: "Some players do well at some clubs where the system suits them. They go someone else and it might be rotation or a different manager but it can take longer to settle. David Silva is special, I think Adam Johnson gets a raw deal at times, so it's harder for Nasri to bolt down a first team place." 1959: Chelsea are looking shaky at the back and when they fail to deal with a corner, Andy Carroll hooks a shot over on the turn. The players are out on the pitch at Arsenal where Gary Speed is being remembered. 1956: Liverpool have settled well at Stamford Bridge with Jordan Henderson putting in a dangerous cross which is well dealt with by Alex. In Cardiff, Blackburn's David Goodwillie has been a threat so far but there have been no clear cut chances. 1954: You can't keep David Luiz out of the action can you? The first foray forward for Liverpool sees Jose Enrique cross from the left and Andy Carroll is shoved out of the way by the Brazilian defender. On another day we could have had two penalties here already. Yellow card 1950: Drama at Chelsea as David Luiz bursts into the penalty area and goes to ground under a rash-looking challenge from Sebastian Coates. It looked like a penalty to me but referee Phil Dowd instead books Luiz for a dive. A let-off for Liverpool there for sure. BBC Radio 5 live Kevin Ratcliffe at the Cardiff City Stadium on Radio 5 live: "It was fitting for a great man. It's been an incredibly difficult three days for people in Wales and around the country." 1947: We are also off at Chelsea. Whistle 1946: A touching minute's applause also takes place at Stamford Bridge, with former Wales captain Craig Bellamy looking understandably emotional. We are under way in Cardiff.
ARSENAL v MAN CITY (2000 BST)
Alistair Magowan reports:
"Both Arsenal and Manchester City make 10 changes each from the teams that were in Premier League action on the weekend. Johan Djourou and Samir Nasri, facing his old club for the first time, are the only survivors. Owen Hargreaves makes his third appearance of the season for City, with Arsenal's Marouane Chamakh and Park Chu-young up front." Arsenal v Man City

Referee: Lee Probert (Wiltshire) 1942: There is a minute's applause underway in Cardiff in memory of Gary Speed. Cardiff boss Malky Mackay and Blackburn boss Steve Kean lay wreathes on the pitch. The teams are also out at Stamford Bridge. 1935: All three Carling Cup ties will be decided tonight remember, so we all could be in for the long haul and penalties. If that happens there will be some serious coffee making action in the BBC kitchen. Surely we are in for goals in all three games though? Let's start on a positive note... CARDIFF v BLACKBURN (1945 BST) TEAM NEWS
Dewi Hughes reports:
"A change in goal for Cardiff City as Tom Heaton replaces David Marshall, while the only other change sees fit-again Filip Kiss in for Stephen McPhail in midfield. True to his word, Blackburn Rovers manager Steve Kean has shuffled his pack with five changes form Saturday's defeat to Stoke City. Mark Bunn, Radoslav Petrovic, Nick Blackman, David Goodwillie and captain David Dunn all come in." CHELSEA v LIVERPOOL TEAM NEWS (1945 BST)
Chief football writer Phil McNulty reports from Stamford Bridge:
"Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish hinted he would field a weakened side when complaining about the scheduling of this fixture - but his team has a strong look. Luis Suarez is on the bench but Craig Bellamy, Andy Carroll and Maxi Rodgrigues will provide plenty of potency in attack. Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas starts with Fernando Torres up front and there is an opportunity to look at promising youngsters Oriel Romeu, Romelu Lukaku, Josh McEachran and Ryan Bertrand." Cardiff v Blackburn
Cardiff: Heaton, McNaughton, Taylor, Gerrard, Turner, Kiss, Whittingham, Cowie, Conway, Gunnarsson, Miller. Subs: Marshall, Earnshaw, Quinn, Mason, Blake, McPhail, Ralls.

Referee: Martin Atkinson (W Yorkshire) Twitter Aleks Koslok on Twitter: "Any club actually taking the Carling Cup seriously? Great chance of picking up silverware and a distraction from the league!" #BBCFootball 1929: If you all wouldn't mind hitting refresh, you will be able to keep across all the goals and action at the top of the screen on midweek final score. Brilliant. 1927: So Samir Nasri does start at Emirates Stadium against Arsenal. Will be very interesting to see what reception he gets tonight. Did he jump ship? A fine player whatever anyone may think of him. BBC Radio 5 live Kevin Ratcliffe on Radio 5 Live: "I've lost a good friend in Gary Speed. We've lost a great man, a great player and a great manager-in-the-making. I've known him since he was 12, he was a paperboy of mine. As an Everton fan he used to come ask me for tickets for the match." BREAKING TEAM NEWS: Samir Nasri starts for Manchester City against his former club Arsenal, while Owen Hargreaves is also back in the side. Twitter Billy Cotton on Twitter: "strange seeing the likes of Lampard and Torres playing in the carling cup, shows AVB needs to win a trophy." #BBCFootball Twitter Sam Candlin on Twitter: "Glad to see McEachrean starting at last, quality player who can only get better. Just needs a chance and a quality performance." #BBCFootball Chelsea v Liverpool
Chelsea: Turnbull, Bosingwa, Luiz, Alex, Bertrand, Lampard, Romeu, McEachran, Malouda, Torres, Lukaku. Subs: Hilario, Ivanovic, Ramires, Mata, Ferreira, Kalou, Anelka.
Liverpool: Reina, Kelly, Carragher, Coates, Jose Enrique, Henderson, Lucas, Spearing, Maxi, Bellamy, Carroll. Subs: Doni, Suarez, Kuyt, Downing, Adam, Skrtel, Flanagan.
Referee: Phil Dowd (Staffordshire) BBC Radio 5 live Steve Claridge at Stamford Bridge on Radio 5 live: "Sometimes winning this cup can be handy. There are five very big clubs still in this tournament and that's because they've got big squads. There's a big turnout from Liverpool so if the clubs don't get it, the fans certainly do. Don't tell me going out of cups does anything for confidence." CARDIFF v BLACKBURN (1945 BST)
Dewi Hughes reports:
"Cardiff City manager Malky Mackay has sensed a real opportunity for a cup upset against Blackburn, but warned his players not to underestimate their Premier League visitors. "I have looked at them three or four times and they have had some really poor decisions against them," he said. Steve Kean, battling for his future as Blackburn manager, will make changes to his side with Saturday's Premier League match with Swansea in mind. He said: "We'd like three points more to be honest but we still think we can select a side against Cardiff that can get a bit of momentum and get a win under our belt, which is important." CHELSEA v LIVERPOOL (1945 BST)
Chief football writer Phil McNulty reports from Stamford Bridge:
"Chelsea assistant manager Roberto di Matteo insists the Carling Cup is high on their list of priorities this season, saying: "It's a way of winning a cup and can also give a positive momentum if you win a trophy in that part of the season." Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish is unhappy the tie is being played only two days after meeting Manchester City at Anfield but he says: "We've sold out our allocation at Chelsea and whatever team we put out on that pitch, they will try as hard as they possibly can for those fans and try to progress in the competition." ARSENAL v MAN CITY (2000 BST)
Alistair Magowan reports:
"Despite his intention to tinker, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger says he still has hopes of matching Manchester City's moneyed muscle. 'Our squad has more experience [than it used to] and I am confident we can show that,' he said. Former Gunners Samir Nasri and Gael Clichy started at Anfield 51 hours ago so are unlikely to start against their old club, with City boss Roberto Mancini planning to change 'all the team'" BREAKING TEAM NEWS: Arsenal rest captain and goal machine Robin van Persie as Arsene Wenger partners Marouane Chamakh and Park Chu-young in attack. BREAKING TEAM NEWS: Craig Bellamy returns to the Liverpool side alongside Andy Carroll in attack, and there also starts for Jay Spearing and Sebastian Coates. Romelu Lukaku does start for Chelsea along with Fernando Torres. CARDIFF v BLACKBURN (1945 BST)
Dewi Hughes reports: "An emotional evening awaits at Cardiff City Stadium, where a ceremony in memory of Gary Speed will be held before kick-off at the scene of his last match as Wales manager 17 days ago. Cardiff City will be aiming to reach the league cup semi-finals for the first time since 1966, and the in-form Championship side will fancy their chances against Premier League bottom side Blackburn Rovers. Could defeat tonight signal the end of Steve Kean's reign?"" ARSENAL v MAN CITY (2000 BST)
Alistair Magowan reports:
"Two days after drawing with Liverpool, Manchester City must travel to Arsenal, where they have not won for 36 years. Normally, you would think City have enough in reserve to break that run with Arsenal planning on resting key players. But City boss Roberto Mancini has already vented his displeasure at the quick turnaround and said he was considering fielding '14-15 year olds.' Will Owen Hargreaves be among them?" CHELSEA v LIVERPOOL (1945 BST)
Chief football writer Phil McNulty reports from Stamford Bridge:
"Kenny Dalglish will be hoping it is not unlucky 13 at Stamford Bridge tonight as he currently remains undefeated in 12 games against Chelsea as Liverpool manager. His latest success came with a 2-1 Premier League win 10 days ago. Andre Villas-Boas will have his sights not set simply on revenge in this Carling Cup quarter-final, but building on the momentum gathered with Saturday's 3-0 win against Wolves." 1858: Plenty of you are letting me know who you want to see out on the pitch tonight and we should have confirmation of the teams with you any time soon. Twitter Johnny McRory on Twitter: "Hope to see Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain start for Arsenal tonight. Great young talent and he needs game time!" #BBCFootball Text in your views on 81111 (UK) Anonymous on text, via 81111: "Liverpool desperate to win the league cup this season. Will field a strong side v Chelsea who couldn't care less and will field a weakened team. Liverpool for the win. 3-1." 1850: In the Championship, Hull are the latest potential lambs to the slaughter as they face the obscene home record of leaders Southampton. The Saints have won their last 20 games at St Mary's, which is quite frankly ridiculous. Should Nicky Barmby inspire his lads to end that run though, Big Sam's West Ham could go top if they thump Middlesbrough. Who themselves could go third if they win. Got all that? In short, some cracking games in store. Twitter Matthew Curran on Twitter: "Hoping to see Romelu Lukaku starting for Chelsea today, massively underplayed so far this season." #BBCFootball 1846: Send me your views on the Carling Cup, the tributes to Gary Speed, action at the top of the Championship or even tell me why you are in the away end at Wealdstone v Banbury if you must. Tweet the commentary via the hashtag #BBCFootball, Tweet me @TJRostance or text in via 81111 (UK). 1845: The final quarter final sees Crystal Palace travel to Old Trafford on Wednesday by the way to face Manchester United. So come on then, let's hear who you are tipping to make it through. Do any of the big clubs want to win this competition? There's a place in the Europa League up for grabs if they do. Any takers? 1844: Owen Hargreaves could be in the Manchester City team tonight at Arsenal - hoping to continue his record of scoring on every appearance for the club so far - while Cardiff could pile even more pressure on Blackburn boss Steve Kean with a win. As if he's not under enough fire. 1842: Looking at those three quarter-finals then, who do we expect to make it through to the last four? Liverpool may feel the benefit of not playing in Europe this season when they walk out at Stamford Bridge for the second time in 10 days and I reckon Kenny Dalglish is desperate to add more silverware to the Anfield cabinet. Can the Reds win at Chelsea again? 1840: Of course, football will take its chance to pay further respect to the life of Gary Speed tonight and we expect some emotional scenes across the land. In Wales, Cardiff host Blackburn while there is a special tribute planned at Nottingham Forest v Leeds. The Leeds fans are going to chant Speed's name for 11 minutes, from the 11th minute, in memory of the midfielder's time at Elland Road, where he wore the 11 shirt. 1835: Good evening one and all, and welcome aboard. After a horrible few days for football after the death of Gary Speed we are right back in action as the Carling Cup takes centre stage. Three of the four semi-final places will be decided tonight and we have a load of league and non league fixtures as well. Will we see Manchester City field a reserve team at Arsenal? Can Blackburn manager Steve Kean take his side to Wembley? Can Fernando Torres net against Liverpool? Let's find out...
